Become an OffKai Maid!
OffKai Maid Cafe holds open auditions for the Cafe throughout January and February! Please read through our volunteer requirements before submitting an RSVP for one of our virtual auditions.
We are looking for fun, dedicated volunteers who have a passion for VTubers, maid cafes, anime, manga, idols, and more! No prior experience is required; our experienced Staff will walk you through the entire process!
OffKai Cafe's Mission:
OffKai Cafe aims to provide an authentic, Akiba-Moe style Maid Cafe experience with a VTuber twist!
OffKai Cafe is a trans-inclusive space and supports our female-aligned Maids who come from all backgrounds, regardless of sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, or religion.
Volunteer Requirements:
Identify as, or present as female or femme in some aspect of your daily life. We understand that not everyone fits these identifiers, so if you have any questions, please reach out to Cafe staff at maidcafe@offkaiexpo.com.
Be able to participate in-person for the event (May 31st to June 2nd). We are not accepting virtual-only applicants.
Be 18 years of age or older by the first day of the convention (May 31st)
Provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and one booster.
Provide your own housing, uniform, transportation, and registration.
Commit to a minimum of 4 hours of pre-convention preparation and a minimum of 10 hours of at-convention participation.
We want to emphasize that OffKai Maid Cafe is a big time commitment! Maids are expected to commit at least 4 hours pre-convention for preparation as well as a minimum of 10 hours at the convention. This includes: preparing uniforms, learning phrases and etiquette, participating in performances, working one 5 hour shift on Saturday and one 5 hour shift on Sunday, and more.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a paid position?
No. Being an OffKai Cafe maid is an unpaid, volunteer position. Maids are able to have registration costs refunded if they meet our volunteer hour requirements. OffKai Expo is a 501c registered event, meaning OffKai Expo and OffKai Maid Cafe are not for-profit events.
Do I need to bring anything with me to the audition?
Yes. Please bring a digital or physical copy of your COVID-19 vaccination records along with a form of ID that has your legal name, a photo of you, and your birth date on it. We also recommend a pen and paper for notetaking!
Can I participate with a disability?
Absolutely! Most disabilities can be easily accommodated. If you require additional accommodations, please let us know as soon as possible by reaching out to us at maidcafe@offkaiexpo.com.
What do I wear to the audition?
You do not need to wear a maid uniform to tryouts! Applicants are encouraged to wear something cute and comfortable to auditions.
Do I need a maid uniform before the audition?
No. OffKai Cafe has a uniform submittal and approval process for accepted maids. Please do not buy a uniform before being accepted into the cafe as it may not meet our uniform standards.
Do I need to do anything before the audition?
No. After filling out the Audition RSVP form, applicants will be sent a confirmation email for the date you RSVP’d for. You won’t need to provide any additional information or fill out any additional forms!
The Audition Process
We will be holding Auditions for our 2024 event throughout January and February! All of our auditions will be held virtually over Zoom. Applicants are only expected to attend ONE virtual audition and complete the orientation and interview process. Upon acceptance, applicants will be expected to keep up with email and Discord communications relating to the cafe onboarding process.
